The Skipper Too… Was Wasted

Friday after work I went to state fair to do the whole eating thing. J picked me up and we parked outside of the grounds so we didn’t have to pay for parking. We got in to the fairgrounds for free too because you could use a Cubs v. Brewers ticket stub to get into the fair for free. Since we went to every Chub game we had a stockpile of free tickets so we got a couple for Deli and Steph and we met them at the fair. It was really crowded and we really didn’t do anything but eat. I had my pork chop sandwich (best food at the fair), a Swiss n’ rye, a big pickle, a couple glasses of flavored milk, and a couple ears of corn. We went into the main expo hall but I really didn’t feel like listening to all the Brits pitch their wonder mops. We also signed up for the dream home again so I have my fingers crossed on that one. We spent a majority of the night in the micro brew tent. They have different beers from the micro breweries in WI. If you kill a keg there you get a “keg killer” t-shirt with Paul Bunyan on it. J and I tried for about four hours to kill one last year but we didn’t get one. This year was different and she killed a keg on her second beer and received the coveted t-shirt. We hung out there until elevenish. My brother was there so it was a good time hand by all.

Saturday we took the Milwaukee microbrewery boat tour with Chad and Emily. For $18 you go to Rock Bottom, Lakefront, and the Milwaukee Ale House on a pontoon boat. The boat tour started at one at Rock Bottom. We had a good time sampling the brews and being stupid. A word of advice if you take the tour, don’t have the Ale House as your last stop. You only get one beer there and after having an unlimited source of brew up to this point it is tough to scale back to one beer an hour. Once we were done with the boat tour we headed back to my apt for a bit. After relaxing briefly we went over to Chappy’s apt and joined them for a cook out. I, being the manliest of all the men, took over the grill and cooked up the brats and chicken. We chowed down and played some darts. Chappy and his crew were going to hit up some of the bars but I didn’t feel like going out yet. So Chad, the girls and I headed back to my apt. We had some brews and watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force on DVD, funny stuff. Then Chad got a call from his brother Paul and he was at a house party just up the street from us. So we headed up there and spent the rest of the night there. It was a lot of fun being at a true house party again. We headed to Mykano’s at midnight, ate our gyro fry and called it a night.

It’s 1… 2… 3… Brewer Games

This weekend was the first time I have ever been to three Brewers’ games in one weekend and it was definitely a lot of baseball. Game one was on Friday after work. I was going to be flying solo to the game after work but J got off of work at the last second and she ended up meeting up picking me up and we went together. Once we got to the park we met up with the other 25 people in our group and tailgated and had some brews. After we got our free throwback hats and found our seat we had neglected to the keep track of another important ingredient, our brew. So we made our way to TGIF which happens to be my new favorite place to watch a game because you see some crazy characters in there. This day was no exception. We found some off duty sheriff who sells memorabilia and replica/counterfeit baseball cards. I ended up talking to this guy for almost the whole game. I made it back to my seat once to partake in WI largest jager bomb that come in a bone glass. Once the game was over the Brewers won game one. I remember seeing a couple of the Packers in TGIF too so that was a bonus. I think after that we just headed home and went to bed.

Game two was going was one of the first tailgates that I was actually a part of the planning process. J’s dad and her sister were coming to Milwaukee to go to their first Brewers’ game. We had the whole thing planned out except one little wrinkle. Somewhere some wires were crossed and J told her dad the wrong start time for the game. Since there was no way they would be able to make it to the park on time we headed down ourselves and had a mini-tailgate and saved the major one Sunday. While at the park I remembered some of my high school buddies were down at the game for a bachelor party. So I gave them a ring and met up with the lushes. Once again we all hung out in Friday’s and this time I stayed fairly sober. This game the entertainment was watching the slow deterioration of my friends as they drank themselves stupid. The crew was getting their butts kicked all game but J’s fam arrived in the seventh and the crew rallied to tie the game back up. Her dad and sister got to see the best part of the game, well her dad did because Arianne was watching the inside of her eyelids most of the time. My aunt and cousin were up from Florida watching Craig play so I got to talk to them for a couple innings of the game. Once the crew won game two we headed home and rested up for game three. Game three was on dad’s day so there was no better way to spend the day than at the park. We finally got our full throttle tailgate together and with the salads, chips, meat, and the whole kitten caboodle. It was a gorgeous day. Sunday’s game we actually sat in our seat because they were free tickets from my cousin. We sat there had a few yards of daiquiri’s and took in the game. The crew couldn’t complete the sweep and we took two of three from the border rivals. The crowds were great for the entire weekend so it was a win win. After the game we headed to Rock Bottom for dinner and then went home to FINALLY do nothing for a little of the weekend. Beware, Summerfest ahead.

Birthday Wheels

This was fun weekend. On Friday we went out for a nice dinner for Jocelyn’s birthday since we were up in Sheboygan last weekend. I reserved a dinner cruise on the Edelweiss. The dinner was a lot nicer than I expected. For $60 a person we got a 2 hour cruise and a nice dinner. We started off at the Third Street Pier. From there we went down the Milwaukee River and then circled the harbor a couple times. Dinner was delicious and consisted of a fillet with a whitefish. The whole thing was excellent and Jocelyn and I both had a great time. Yet another thing I have to recommend to others.

On Saturday we had to get up early and go to Chicago to get Jocelyn’s new/used car. She bought a Mitsubishi Montero from a dealer in the Chicago area. We left MKE at about eight and got back at three just in time for our next event of the day.

Twelve of us decided to go on the Lakefront Brewery tour. I met the whole clan at the brewery. Since the tour was packed and since most of us had already gone on the tour we just drank our free beers at the bar. After relaxing on the banks of the lovely Milwaukee River we went to Wolski’s by UWM to get our free that we get with our tour ticket. After a couple beers there the clan broke up. Todd, Steph, J and I went to the Milwaukee Ale House for a burger. KB from WKLH was playing there and the place was packed so we had a good time there. From there we cruised to the ol’ Metro. We met up with some of the wounded soldiers from the other clan there and spent the rest of the night there. Thanks to Todd and Steph for dinner.

Hot Dog!

Last weekend was pretty tame. I FINALLY got some of the much needed rest that I needed. Friday J and I went to the Brewers game after work. We were going to tailgate but of course Mother Nature had her way and it was cold and rainy so we just had a couple beers in the car and listened to the tunes. The game was fun mostly in part to us sitting in the Beer Pen area. If anyone wants a good deal hit up the Beer Pen on Brewers Friday night home games. It’s $10 for a ticket and sweet throwback Brewers t-shirt. You have to request the Beer Pen when you buy the tickets. They rope off the right field loge level and make it into a private bar area, it’s pretty sweet. There was the roaming inflatable Miller bottle that J got her picture with. Besides that the only other thing that is worth mentioning was that I ate 6 hot dogs because they were only a $1 for spring madness. The Crew won and we headed home. I was beat so I called it a Friday night.

Saturday was equally uneventful. J and I met up with Todd and Stephanie and we hit Joey Buona’s. We got the family style sit down dinner and we ate until we were comatose. I did run in to an old acquaintance from my Primate Center days. If you’re reading this, hi Monique. Since I could barely walk after dinner, going out was out of the question. We headed home and I got a good 10 hours of sleep.

Sunday we decided to hit the Crew game again. Since it was spring madness tickets were only $2.50 so why not hit up the game. This one we met Erica, Ostrenga, Delahunt, Stephanie, and Stephanie’s cousin in the parking lot for a little tailgate action. Erica had some leftover wop from her Mifflin St. party so we had a warm Sunday morning (Erica was a little warmer than the rest.) The game was a lot of fun. We snuck behind home plate about 25 rows back. Todd and I had a hot dog eating contest. I was only able to down 10 (disappointing by personal standards) but Todd only ate 8 so I was the victor. I actually ran into my Aunt and Uncle who were up from Florida watching Craig so I talked to them a bit. The Crew ended up losing but we were really there for the dogs and cheap tickets. It was the most fun I’ve had on Sunday for a while. Overall a very satisfying weekend. I managed to intertwine sobriety, fun and 20+ hours of sleep.

Ease My Broken Heart

This weekend was full of euphoric excitement and gut wrenching disappointment. Not only did both of these emotions come into play on the same weekend, they both happened on Sunday. First I need to mention that I had dinner at Giovanni’s on Brady St. and the meal was ok. I had the Sicilian stuffed tenderloin. The prices there are a little steep but I found out why the hard way. If you go there you really don’t need to order an appetizer because the dinners come with a large soup or salad. That combined with the good bread led to me taking some of my tenderloin home, and those of you who know me know I don’t take food home. Some good eats at G’s.

On Sunday I had to get up early because I had to go with J to Oconomowoc for her masters swim meet. The meet lasted about five hours and J tore it up. She took first place in all of her individual events and broke the state masters record in the 100 yd. freestyle. That was my excitement for the day because it was great to see her kick some serious booty. After the meet we went to the Delafield Brewhaus, another great place to eat. Then the day took a serious turn for the worse. I had to rush home to see the Packers v. Eagles game. I really don’t even need to describe why the day took a turn for the worse. It can be summed up in 4th and 26, come on! Disappointing. There’s my Sunday journey from excitement (good job J), to disgust (damn you Packers)!
